Find Your Own Way

Susan Anne Therapies

Understand your story. Break old patterns. Find a way forward that feels like you.

Perhaps you’ve reached a point where the ways you’ve always coped no longer seem to be working.

You may feel overwhelmed, exhausted from trying to keep everything together, or simply know that something doesn’t feel right. Perhaps you spend a lot of your time looking after other people, finding it difficult to say no, or feeling guilty when you put your needs first.

You might find yourself constantly seeking approval or reassurance, wondering why you never feel good enough. Perhaps you’ve lost sight of who you are and what you actually want, or find yourself living according to what you think you should or must do.

Maybe you’re struggling with anxiety, overthinking, low self-esteem, a relationship ending, or a difficult period in your life.

Whatever has brought you here, you don’t have to have all the answers before you begin.

Understanding what is really going on

The difficulties we experience today can sometimes have deeper roots.

The way we see ourselves, our relationships and the world around us can be shaped by experiences from earlier in our lives. Over time, we can develop ways of coping that once helped us but may no longer be serving us.

In counselling, we can gently explore these patterns and begin to understand where they come from and how they may be affecting life today.

The symptoms may be what bring you to therapy, but understanding the reasons behind them can be where meaningful change begins.

I offer a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly, at your own pace, without pressure to have everything sorted out.

You don’t have to keep putting yourself last

Perhaps you’ve spent years being the person everyone can rely on.

The one who says yes.

The one who keeps the peace.

The one who puts other people’s needs before your own.

Maybe you’ve become so used to being there for everyone else that you no longer know what you need for yourself.

Learning to set boundaries doesn’t mean becoming selfish. Learning to value yourself doesn’t mean caring less about other people.

Together, we can explore what is keeping you stuck and help you develop a kinder, more accepting relationship with yourself.

A little about me

I’m Susan, a counsellor based in Ilminster, offering face-to-face counselling as well as online sessions.

I know personally how difficult it can be to reach a point where your usual ways of coping aren’t enough. Having counselling myself was an important part of my own journey and helped me understand the value of finding a therapist you genuinely connect with.

My approach is warm, compassionate and guided by you. I won’t judge you or tell you how you should feel. Instead, we’ll take the time to understand your experiences and explore what might help you move forward.

Outside of counselling, you’ll usually find me walking my dog Nellie, spending time in nature, enjoying family and friends, or getting creative with cake decorating!

Find your happy

I don’t believe that happiness means having a life without difficult feelings or difficult days.

For me, finding your happy is about understanding yourself, knowing what matters to you and feeling able to live in a way that is more authentic to who you are.

It is about learning that your needs matter too.

And it is never too late to begin.

If something here has resonated with you…

You don’t need to know exactly what you want to talk about before getting in touch.

We can start with wherever you are right now and explore things together.

If you’d like to find oout more about how counselling with me could work for you, I’d be happy to hear from you.
